ZipKit was built because every web developer eventually needs a quick JSON formatter, regex tester, or UUID generator — and every existing free tool either uploads your data, shows ads, or both. We built ZipKit to prove that a comprehensive set of everyday developer utilities can be offered with no tracking, no account walls, and no server-side processing of your data. Every tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing leaves your device.
We started with a small set of essentials and have grown to over 67 tools spanning JSON, encoding, cryptography, CSS, color, network, math, code formatting, image conversion, and more. Every tool is hand-built and maintained — not auto-generated filler. If you have ever been away from your IDE and needed to quickly convert JSON to YAML, decode a JWT, or generate a CSS gradient, we are here for that exact moment.
ZipKit is built on standard web platform APIs — Web Crypto for cryptography, FileReader and Canvas for image handling, modern CSS for layout and theming, and WebAssembly where performance demands it. There is no backend processing for tool logic. The server delivers HTML and a small amount of JavaScript; everything else runs in your browser tab. We optimise for Core Web Vitals, self-host fonts, inline critical CSS, and ship a service worker for offline access to your most-used tools.
ZipKit is maintained by an independent developer team committed to keeping developer tools free, fast, and private. We do not sell your data. We do not show you ads. We do not make you log in. The team grows and curates the tool catalogue, responds to bug reports and suggestions through our contact form, and publishes every change in the public changelog.
